Trying to keep relationships open, pleasant, based on our common humanity. That sometimes requires the avoidance of uncomfortable topics, especially ones which others could see as confrontational.
Of course. I don’t want to be the mean one.
But it occurs to me that I am really trying to keep the peace with people who believe that killing the unborn is not only permissible but necessary and righteous, that it is a good thing. People who rationalize the atrocity of abortion.
Why am I doing this?
Reblogged this on Citizen Tom and commented:
madblog poses a difficult problem. How are we supposed treat those who favor the abortion of the unborn? I don’t exactly know. The Bible isn’t specific. However, some sins deserve fierce condemnation. For example, the Apostle John, often known at the apostle of love, observed the following about apostates.
In general, we should rebuke an unrepentant sinner and forgive the repentant sinner.
What do you think? What about the unrepentant soul who believes that killing the unborn is not only permissible but necessary and righteous?

I do not keep peace with those that advocate abortion or preform abortions they do not in my opinion deserve peace in any capacity unless they repent. Some that get abortions I have compassion for the young that really do not know better and those forced by pimps, boyfriends, husbands, and parents. Some you could debate the sins that lead them to pregnancy, but none justify murdering a child and when I say that I include rape. It has always baffled me how the rapist gets to continue to live their life often without a jail sentence and the child is given a death sentence it is evil.
Having given birth to three kids I know there is life there from the start because dead cells do not divide and grow. They have even shown that at the moment of conception there is a bright spark as the sperm joins the egg. I believe that is the spark of life.

Of course, I was being a bit tongue in cheek in the post, but I was trying to highlight a truth we usually need to overlook just in order to be civil. And as believers in the true God we are commanded to reflect his nature. That means that we do honor his conception of justice but it also means that we love our enemies and that we do not consider ourselves better than others. Of course we must honor every person’s humanity as an image bearer of God. Of course we treat even those with awful beliefs with compassion and forbearance. But we should try to persuade them of the injustice and cruelty of their views while hoping for their redemption.
My post was more an emotional comment than a wise one.

I think there was wisdom in your post, but it is an extremely difficult subject for me. I always like to say that I can love someone and not like them at all. I think it is mostly true that you can do that. We are also called to stand against evil and abortion is pretty evil. I know they need salvation, but I am not so sure I am the one to bring it to them. To those victimized by the abortion industry to them yes I can try. To the abortionist I think my anger would show and nothing would be accomplished there.

I agree. Mostly the women who have had abortions are to be pitied. They are some kind of victims as well. Who I have in mind as the target here are the activists, the gigantic abortion industry. The media machine which promotes.

I agree that most of the women and girls are victims not all because some know what they are doing. You are right though the whole machine around the abortion industry is what needs to be fought because they are the ones that churn out the propaganda about abortion. It is amazing to me that people have never gotten how ironic it is that if they found micro organisms on Mars they would consider it life, and if you destroy a bald eagle egg you can go to federal prison for a very long time, but the murder of a human child is applauded and encouraged.

The industry has successfully promoted thr idea in our culture that the context is woman vs. her unborn baby. That it’s a power struggle between the two; snd then dehumanized the baby. All that leaves is the victimized woman in their view. If we don’t give her her rights we are oppressors. Most women have bought these premises. They have been used. The truth is that there need be no conflict in this most harmonious snd interdependent of human relationships. The women who have been taught these things for generations and I consider them victims of the industry snd the politics. Power is at stake for those selling abortion

I agree there too. I was 12 years old when abortion was made legal and fortunately one thing my mother did do right was instill in me the sanctity of life. I have heard unborn babies referred to as tumors or a mass of cells. It is one reason ultrasounds are so important in fighting abortion they can literally see it is a baby. No there is no struggle between mother and child and it is a proven fact that many times babies have healed and saved their mothers.
I do consider most to be victims not all though I have seen videos of women that say they don’t care if it is really a baby they will kill it anyway that woman is not a victim. Yes, there is a lot of power at stake and at its root evil. People have been sacrificing children to their false gods for centuries and this is the new modern way to do it, but the root cause is the same.

I really consider them all victims even though some are strident and proud. They have been deceived. And at the most difficult time in their lives, every voice is telling them an abortion will solve all the problems.
